biography |

I am currently the Director of the School of Communications and Professor of Photography and Visual/Media studies at Grand Valley State University in Michigan. I earned a B.S. in Physics from the University of Dallas and an M.F.A. in Photography from Washington University in Saint Louis.

A native of Colorado, I have also lived and worked in Rome, Italy as a freelance photographer, and worked as a commercial advertising photographer in several midwest studios.

My photographs and artwork have been included in the Midwest Photographer's Project Collection at the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago, and have been exhibited throughout the United States and abroad. My artwork is often about the meanings we attribute to, or derive from, our experiences of place and/or technology, and the relationship of art and science as ways of knowing.
